What is loudness level ?

Updated Feb 18, 2021

LUFS stands for Loudness Unit Full Scale, this is probably the most accurate way to measure average music levels as it takes into account silences and the human perception of certain frequencies.

LUFS-I
The LUFS Integrated is your track's average volume. You can set a custom LUFS-I target or decide to match popular standards (Spotify, Youtube, Tidal etc…). This way, you can make sure that your collaborators will have the best user experience while comparing their favorite songs from streaming platforms against your Mixup projects.

TRUEPEAK
The TRUEPEAK is the estimated highest peak of your track once converted to the analog world. In order to avoid distortion, you generally do not want your TRUEPEAK to exceed 0LU (maybe even -1LU in order to be safe). If you are using our Level Aligner with a custom value, you should make sure none of your tracks will clip (you will get a notification if that is the case).

TRUEDYN-I
The TRUEDYN Integrated is the average dynamic of your track. Since the loudness war is over there is no point squashing the life out of your music. It is recommended to keep it as high as possible. (6dB TRUEDYN is considered very compressed whereas 14dB TRUEDYN is closer to 70s records)
